  • Pharmacy Technician

    Pharmacy Technician  Management Enterprise Development and Services (MEDS) is actively seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the Department of Pharmacy, San Antonio Military Medical Center.  This is a regular full time position, offering a competitive salary and a full benefits package.    Pharmacy Technicians that apply should have at a minimum: License and of Certification Requirements.  Pharmacy Technicians shall have successfully completed a program of formal education through the community college level /technical school or formal military training (preferably a program accredited by The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).  A certificate or diploma must be in the possession of any applicant. Pharmacy Technicians must be in possession of current Pharmacy Technician Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board as well as current registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.   Experience.  The Pharmacy Technician shall have completed at a minimum 160 hours of externship training and have a minimum of one year experience as a pharmacy technician within the last three years for outpatient setting and within the last two years for Inpatient Pharmacy.  Pharmacy Technicians must possess and maintain a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) during the contract period of performance.  All applicants shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other employees.  All applicants shall be required to meet Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements.  MEDS will not reimburse for these costs.    All applicants shall have received Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) required training for the position in which they will perform, and that training currency is maintained.  Documentation of such training shall be provided.  No records or convictions involving any form of chemical dependency, previous convictions of felonious nature, or any adverse actions pending by any Board of Pharmacy.    If this sounds like you, please submit a resume to This email address is being protected from spambots.   • Physician Assistant

    Physician Assistant Job Overview: The Physician Assistant shall perform a full range of Family Physician Assistant services within the scope of clinical privileges granted by the Commander, using Government furnished supplies, facilities and equipment. The practitioner shall provide care at the 42 MDG at Maxwell AFB, AL.   Education and Qualification Requirements: ·   The practitioner must have at least 24 months of experience within the last 36 months.   ·   Be a graduate Physician Assistant qualified by academic and practical education to provide patient services as a physician extender under supervision of a physician. Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Committee on Certification Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.   ·   Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desire effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations as required. Knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patient’s condition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching and follow up care.   ·   Knowledge of professional care theories, principles, procedures, disease progress and practices.   ·   Knowledge and skill in cardiopulmonary resuscitation used to initiate resuscitation measures when necessary and assist medical team in providing support measures.  Maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) card.   ·   Ability to perform infection control procedures.   ·   Knowledge of emergency medical procedures.   ·   Ability to synthesize data from a variety of sources and make appropriate clinical decisions.   ·   Knowledge of medical privacy and confidentiality (Health Insurance Portability and   Accountability Act [HIPAA]), and accreditation standards of Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and The Joint Commission (TJC), and the Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs).   ·   Working knowledge of computer applications/software to include Microsoft Office programs, MS Outlook (e-mail), and internet familiarity is required.  The ability to input, extract and format data from established databases is desired.   ·   Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.   ·   Must be skillful and tactful in communicating with people who may be physically or mentally ill, uncooperative, fearful, emotionally distraught, and occasionally dangerous.   ·   Must have knowledge and experience, or demonstrate comprehension during training, with software and databases currently employed at the MTF (e.g. Microsoft Office, Access, Excel and PowerPoint; Composite Health Care System [CHCS], Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technological Application [AHLTA]). Must possess knowledge, skills and computer program literacy to collect and analyze data.   ·   Must have knowledge and experience in Patient Advocacy, Patient Privacy, and Customer Relations.   ·   Must demonstrate ability to apply critical thinking skills and expertise in resolving complicated healthcare, social, interpersonal and financial patient situations.   ·         Must possess organization, problem-solving and communication skills to articulate medical requirements to patients, families/care givers, medical and non-medical staff in a professional and courteous way.   ·         Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD), Federal, State, non-profit healthcare systems and organizations, to include DoD Tri-Service Military Healthcare Systems, TRICARE purchased care system, Medicare, Medicaid and the Veterans Administration (VA) is desired.   ·         Must have and maintain a current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).   Read More
